Can I Apply For Social Security Disability If I Am Pursuing Or Already Receiving Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation?

Yes.  However, you should speak to your attorney about whether it makes sense to wait until the case is settled before making such an application.  All Pennsylvania Work Comp Settlements must take into account the interests of Medicare- and some settlements must be approved by Medicare- so that Medicare can see that it will not be paying for future medical treatment that relates to an accepted Pennsylvania Work Injury.

If you are accepted for Social Security Disability benefits, your work comp check will not be reduced. However, the SSD check will be reduced based on the work comp amount.
